Interparliamentary Conference on Human Rights and Religious Freedom

The Church of Scientology International European Office for Public Affairs and Human Rights applauds the work of the Institute on Religion and Public Policy in bringing together representatives of 75 nations in a conference this year to address issues that are vital to our times.

The Interparliamentary Conference on Human Rights and Religious Freedom, being held from November 28 through December 1 in Marrakech, Morocco, will address conflict resolution, reconciliation and how religion and government, working in partnership, can curtail terrorism and advance peace. It will emphasize education—preparing young people to take an active and effective role in shaping their future. It will bring together legislators, NGOs academics and media.

As stated by the Institute: “All peoples have the right to express their faith and religious beliefs as they so wish according to the dictates of their minds, hearts and consciences, immune from coercion on the part of individuals or of social groups and of any human power, in such wise that no one is to be forced to act in a manner contrary to his own beliefs, whether privately or publicly, whether alone or in association with others within due limits.

“Differences between religious traditions must be accepted, respected, and tolerated. The practice of any faith must be conducted with respect for other religious traditions.”

Through increasing dialogue in conferences of this nature, trust can be fostered among leaders of government and civil society resulting in real solutions being put into effect.

As Scientology founder, L. Ron Hubbard, stated:

“On the day when we can truly trust each other, there will be peace on Earth.”
